RD Taxi V2.0: an NPC driver who talks, reacts and calls emergency services
Rox Development’s free taxi script gives the NPC driver a personality, with conversations, reactions to what you do and panic when you draw a weapon.
Most NPC taxis in FiveM are a silent driver who takes you from A to B. RD Taxi V2.0 turns that driver into a character. They start conversations (about the weather, the radio or a phone call), react live to what you’re doing and get stressed when something goes wrong.
Highlights
- Multiple taxi stands with automatically detected district names.
- Quick Call (nearest driver) or pick a driver yourself.
- Realistic parking, turn signals, hazard lights and cruising around when idle.
- If you’re bleeding badly, the driver reroutes to the hospital or police station mid-ride.
- Reacts to phone calls, smoking, eating, drinking, sunglasses, caps and injuries.
- Draw a weapon and the driver panics and may call emergency services. You can hook in your own dispatch.
- Recovers automatically from a flipped or stuck taxi.
- Configurable fares, payment timing and cancellation fees.
Free, with a footnote
The client and server scripts are free and open source. The source code for the NUI (the interface) is a separate paid package at $3.99. According to the developer, this free release is a "lite" version of a paid private version. You need PolyZone and a recent server artifact. The script works with ESX, QBCore, QBox or standalone.
resmon on your own server. Our verdict
A fun idea that adds immersion without needing players. Especially for servers with few active taxi drivers, this is a strong filler. Someone on the forum asked whether players can drive it too. The answer didn’t make that entirely clear, so for now assume it’s purely an AI taxi.
