Deadline 21 October: your server list info is moving to the Cfx Portal

Your server’s name, description, tags and banners will come from the Portal instead of your own config. Here’s what changes and what to sort out before 21 October.

Cfx.re has announced that metadata for FiveM and RedM servers will now be managed in the Cfx Portal. That covers your server’s name, description, tags, language and images, which will no longer come from your local configuration. Most of the changes take effect on 21 October 2026.

5tags per server, maximum
2560×280recommended banner size
512×512recommended profile image

What’s changing?

  • One source. Where Cfx had recent data for your server, it has already been carried over. If fields are missing, your server shows a notice in the list saying data needs to be filled in through the Portal.
  • Five tags at most. If you have more, only the first five are shown, in the order you created them.
  • New image sizes. Banners should be 2560×280 pixels (minimum 1825×200). Profile images should be 512×512 (minimum 256×256).
  • Discord link. You can add a Discord link in the Portal. It appears in the client under the server details, below the owner’s name.

Checklist for server owners

  1. Log in to the Portal and open your server listing.
  2. Fill in any empty fields: name, description and language.
  3. Pick your five most important tags.
  4. Re-export your banner at 2560×280 and check your profile image.
  5. Add your Discord invite.
TipTags are now scarce. Pick tags that describe how people play on your server (serious RP, economy, language) rather than what every server already has. "Roleplay" tells a player nothing anymore.

Why is Cfx doing this?

The goal is a more consistent server list where players can more easily find servers that match their playstyle. Separate config files led to tags of every shape and size, including other servers’ names stuffed into tags. A single source with a hard limit makes that harder.

What does the forum say?

Replies to the announcement are mostly positive. Many owners call it a logical, long overdue clean-up. The most common criticism is actually about something else: the number of license keys. Developers who run several test servers, or who have both a FiveM and a RedM community, find the limit too tight. Users also asked for a live preview of the listing, and for fixed tags defined by Cfx to make abuse harder.
